Planning a trek shouldn’t be the hardest part of it
Wrong amount of guidance
Advice was either overwhelming or too thin to be useful.
Not enough information
Trekkers couldn’t find what they needed about the place, the weather or what to carry.
No help in an emergency
When something went wrong on the trail, there was no assistance to turn to.
So I designed an app that makes the nomad life easier, from the first plan to the walk back down.

What the survey and interviews told me
- 1People travel for very different reasons, from stress relief to business.
- 2Beyond seeing the world, trekking and hiking bring real health benefits.
- 3Trekkers struggled most with planning, budget, accommodation and guidance.
- 4The guidance they found didn’t match the present: weather, things to do, what to carry.
- 5Some already used booking apps for places to stay.MakeMyTripTripadvisorYatra
Notes from the field
Most pay for trips from their savings. A few would like a pay-later option.
People prefer trekking in a group. It’s easier to enjoy and manage things together.
In group trips, they want to stay connected with each other.
Managing expenses on a trip is genuinely hard.
On the trail, they want to know where they’re going and how long it’ll take.
Some want to know every safety measure before they visit a place.

Making sense of the mess
I clustered the research, built three personas, mapped their journeys and turned the pain points into how might we questions.

From insights to features
Every feature traces back to something trekkers told me. Pick a feature to see where it came from.
